The European Forum of National Nursing and Midwifery Associations (EFNNMA) is the voice of nursing and midwifery within WHO European Region.Working in partnership and strategically with WHO and other key stakeholders we aim to influence health policy, improve the quality of health services and the health of people across the 53 Member States of the Region. We are passionate advocates of the central and unique contribution that Nurses and Midwives make to individual and population health and well-being across Europe and are committed to ensuring both professions are supported to deliver excellence in their practice. As the nature of care changes we believe that strengthening and developing the nursing and midwifery workforce through the provision of lifelong learning and research delivers excellence in public health and people-centered healthcare.
SC and WHO planning session
On the 1st of February SC members took part in a planning session with WHO EURO representatives. The main issues of the Agenda included developing the Joint Action plan for 2019-2020, strengthening communication between EFNNMA and WHO, increasing the visibility on nurses and midwives through new communication strategies and potential for the EFNNMA contribution to the RC 69th session in Copenhagen in September of 2019.
Joint action plan has been deeply analysed and discussed both at the planning session and afterwards. And inspite of difficulties in planning of the joint major events, such as WHO, CNO, CC and EFNNMA meetings which are under influence of multiply factors, the working group was able to agree on specific activities to be implemented during the coming two years. Particularly, the group has agreed upon new strategy on supporting the high profile of nursing and midwifery profession by using the special World days focused on specific health or professional issues, days, which are of a major concern for nurses and midwives and where professional input is of a highest value.
