EFNNMAThe European Forum of National Nursing and Midwifery Associations (EFNNMA) is the voice of nursing and midwifery within WHO European Region.Working in partnership and strategically with WHO and other key stakeholders we aim to influence health policy, improve the quality of health services and the health of people across the 53 Member States of the Region. We are passionate advocates of the central and unique contribution that Nurses and Midwives make to individual and population health and well-being across Europe and are committed to ensuring both professions are supported to deliver excellence in their practice. As the nature of care changes we believe that strengthening and developing the nursing and midwifery workforce through the provision of lifelong learning and research delivers excellence in public health and people-centered healthcare.

Covid-19

Due to the pandemic, many global events have had to be postponed or reorganized into virtual events. The EFNNMA were affected by the pandemic and were to cancel the Launch of Nursing Now Russia and the Workshop for East European and Russian speaking countries prepared jointly by ICN and EFNNMA. We are sure that as soon as the Covid-19 crisis would be over, we will plan new events, new meetings and have new opportunities.. At the WHO European Region we are also watching the situation closely. This is one of the reasons we have not been able to confirm the dates for the key event that we are very much looking forward to; The Biannual Meeting of Government Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officers, WHO collaborating centres and the European Forum of National Nursing and Midwifery Associations in the WHO European Region. This event will also present the opportunity to reflect on the progress achieved during the 2015-2020 period, with a view to developing a roadmap for further strengthening nursing and midwifery across the Region towards UHC and the 2030 agenda.

Even though the planning of events and meetings are on hold for now, WHO Euro still  working hard to maintain the focus on the importance of a strong health workforce – now more than ever. In that context we are continuing our advocacy work and publishing weekly stories from across the Region of nurses and midwifes and their contribution to population health outcomes. Soon new stories that are focussing on especially the nurses and midwifes at the frontline of the Covid-19 response will be published. You can stay tuned here: Website, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and on our visual storytelling page.

EFNNMA unites different associations and a number of them speak Russian. In this time of crisis professional associations of the World develop useful materials at times available in different languages, at time translated into Russian. With this letter we would like to provide a link mainly to the Russian speaking associations to those materials that are of the main importance now and that are available in Russian.
